I enrolled with the aim of studying abroad for a double degree. I had been preparing to study abroad since the summer of my sophomore year, but developed type 1 diabetes in the summer of my junior year.

During the third semester of my freshman year of high school, I participated in a two-month term study abroad program in Maple Ridge, Canada, where I experienced homestay with a Filipino host father and a Northern European host mother.

After studying French for three years, I obtained the DELF A2 certificate in my senior year of high school.

I have Type 1 Diabetes.

In September 2023, I was diagnosed with acute onset type 1 diabetes.

Six month prior to my diagnosis, I had been experiencing poor health, weight loss, and irregular periods, so I visited a gynecologist. When I was diagnosed, I developed diabetic ketoacidosis and was treated 24 hours a day in the HCU (High Care Unit). After being transferred to a general ward, I underwent approximately two weeks of testing and treatment, and then underwent approximately one year of blood sugar management and insulin treatment with pens in Japan.

I switched to pump therapy while studying abroad and is still undergoing treatment to this day.
